Mr. SAKAIYA Taichi, President, ACPF passed away on 8 Feb. 2019

Mr. SAKAIYA Taichi, representing Director and President, Asia Crime Prevention Foundation, 83, passed away at 20:19, February 8, 2019.

The funeral wake was carried out solemnly from 18:00 February 16 (Sat.), and the final service from 13:00 February 17 (Sun.) at Aoyama Sougisho, Tokyo.

The funeral wake was attended by lots of persons including Mr. ABE Shinzo, Prime Minister, Mr. MORI Yoshiro, former Prime Minister, and Mr. FUKUDA Yasuo, former Prime Minister, from political and business circles. At the final service, condolence messages were expressed by Mr. SUGA Yoshihide, Chief Cabinet Secretary, MOGI Yuzaburo, Honorary CEO, Kikkoman Corporation, Mr. HASHIMOTO Toru, former Prefectural Governor of Osaka, and Mr. ANDO Tadao, Architect. Lots of dignitaries and fans loathed to part with him.

Since President SAKAIYA took office in June 2003, he disclosed various ideas to recruit many ACPF members. One of them was to publish a statistical booklet “Japan, How Safe?” The first edition was issued in July 2015, and the second edition in January 2018.  It’s first press conference was held on 22 February 2018, one year before this article was carried on the ACPF Website. He always told us that the ACPF should revise the booklet before the 2020 UN Congress in Kyoto to transmit the safety of Japan to persons concerned criminal justice in the world.  He also delivered a lecture and presentation at the Akishima City Development Summit by Corporations on 17 December (Mon.) 2018 Just two months prior to his death. We were greatly surprised at the news of his sudden death.

We are sure to continue ACPF activities with his will in our minds. May his soul rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with him.
